It has been a looooooooong time since I have made anything. In fact, I think the last time I had the opportunity to sit down and finish a project, I was on bed rest...almost 6 months ago. I don't know how all of these new moms have time to make things, and blog about them, and take care of their newborns. Maybe they don't also have full-time jobs. Maybe they have nannies. Maybe they are super women....or aliens....I just don't know. But for me, necessity bred some creativity a couple of months ago when Micah needed a warm, winter hat and I couldn't find one anywhere. (Sometimes I feel like living in Hilton Head is like living in a third-world country when it comes to finding things for kids.... especially winter clothes. There are very few resources here for little ones living in this retirement community.) So, I searched the internet and found this pattern for free via Soule Mama. If you can knit, pearl, and sew a seam, you can make this adorable hat. The way this shapes itself is so cool! I used some inexpensive poly-blend worsted-weight yarn that someone gave me, and knit this up in a couple of evenings. This little hat is warm, soft, and oh-so-cute on my little man's crooked head. He is a cute little (drooling) model isn't he?

More Baby Knitting
I started knitting a baby hat for Micah a couple of weeks ago. My goal is to use what I have on hand to make anything for this kid, so I used some baby yellow, super-soft yarn that someone gave me a couple months ago. I finished it very quickly, but after looking a the gargantuan size, and knowing that the probability of this baby is coming in a couple of weeks is very high, I made another hat for a premie using this pattern and size 4 needles.

So sweet....and so tiny! I can't imagine a baby being that small!

The Blessings of Bedrest
This has been the craziest couple of days! Last weekend I just didn't feel right, and by Monday when I went to the doctor, I was having contractions every 3 minutes. My local hospital doesn't have a level III nursery, so they shipped me off to MUSC (2 hours away from home!!!) so that they could hopefully stop the contractions. And that brings us to today....I'm currently 26 weeks and a few days pregnant, and baby Micah really wants to meet his family! But thanks to the awesome doctors and nurses here at MUSC, baby is still safely inside my growing belly! The trade-off is that I'm on bedrest and a bunch of medications to stop my contractions. And although being on bedrest so far away from home is a bit of a bummer, I'm making the best of the situation. For one thing, I can't stop knitting!
